WOW! So many snow days here it’s been hard to keep the students still in thier seats! Physical Education is a perfect chance to expend all that extra energy from being cooped up inside all day. Make sure to wear your best “Jumping Shoes” to PE in the weeks to come because…..
All students k-4 will be praticing thier jumprope skills and tricks from the end of January and into February.

Winter is a great month to bundle up and enjoy the many outdoor activities of the season!
The 3 & 4th grades are learning a variety of hockey skills and games this month. We played scooter hockey, floor hockey, and pillo pollo!

Grades k-2 are using scooters this month!
Scooters are a great way to gain muscular strength in their arms and legs, as well as improve core balance and stability.

This month grades K-2 will be learning how to catch and throw a variety of objects!
We play many games to practice catching and throwing to ourself, and with a friend.
Here is Mrs. Hubert’s class playing catch with a friend and using stuffed animals!

This month the 3rd and 4th grade students are kicking off Fall with SOCCER!
They will learn basic soccer skills such as dribbling, trapping, passing, kicking, shooting, and throw ins.
We play outdoor soccer using the soccer field at NES and on rainy days we play indoor soccer in the gym.
We play many small games that use soccer balls and encourage all students to try thier best!

Welcome back to NES! We hope that everyone had a healthy and active summer!
To begin the new school year the 3rd and 4th graders will be participating in the FitnessGram fitness testing. The FitnessGram is a comprehensive health-related fitness and activity program that measures muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, as well as cardiovascular endurance. The results will be sent home with each student following completion on the testing this month. Parents- please feel free to review the results of the program with your child and ask them questions about each component!
Grades K, 1, and 2 will begin this year with a screening of motor development, basic locomotor patterns, and directionality. We will play a lot of fun games that are cooperative and get the students up and moving around!
Stop by and say hi at Open House this year (Sept 30th)- we look forward to a new and exciting school year!

Field Day 2010 was a huge success!
The entire school was invited to participate in activites such as:
- Field Games
- Bouncy Houses/ Challenge Course

- Walk-a-Thon/ Mariner Mile

With the warm weather fast approaching, the students at NES are hitting the field outside for some fun baseball activities!
K, 1, and 2 will be back to the basics with some practice catching, throwing, base running, and hitting.
While grades 3 and 4 step it up with games such as: run down, wiffle ball, cricket, and kickball!
Many students have mentioned his/her town team playing after school and on the weekends! Keep it up!
